Why are the resolution for the movies not 1920*1080 but 1920*816?
Im not complaining just curious.
do you know those black bars you see above and under your movies whenever you watch them on your TV? those are the missing pixels =) it's just a matter of aspect ratio.

Aspect Ratio: 2.35 : 1
This means the film was shot and released in an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 (1920*(1/2.35))= 816 pixels in height
To achieve the 1080 height you desire there are two options:
1) Stretch the image vertically an extra 132pixels on the bottom and 132 pixels from top - this will make everything looks skinny and unnatural (not ideal)
2) add black bars (132 pixels onto the top and 132 pixels to bottom) meaning the 'video specs' will be officially 1080 pixels in height BUT the black bars are pointless as they are just place holders which add to the filesize (again, not ideal/ no point to have them)
you can use mkv merge to resize your video to actual 1920*1080 without quality loss. I used to do that with bluray moveis, but not any more. I dont now why but now I prefer to watch with black bars. )
Hi, I understand that your files are mp4 but I need some help with burning them to a DVD (DVD-R 4.7gb). Since the 720p files are around 700 to 800mb, I was wanting to burn 3 movies to one DVD. My external hard drive is full with music and movies so I want to burn the movies to DVD. I could do data disc but I don't want that and b/c my regular dvd player can't read them (my ps3 can read it). I was wondering if there were any suggestions on how I could burn 3 movies to DVD.
There is a program that help you get quality DVD burns and play them on your DVD player.
